History

Ahead of the 2009 season, Honda suddenly announced it’s withdrawal from Formula 1 leaving Jenson Button and his teammates’ futures in doubt. Just over one month before the opening round in Australia, Ross Brawn and a group of investors managed to save the team from administration and Brawn GP was born.

Despite the drama, Brawn arrived at the first race with a race winning package thanks to a cleverly designed car, a double-decker diffuser and Jenson Button at the wheel. The team would go on to win six of the first seven races. Despite facing strong opposition from RedBull in the second half of the season, Button and Brawn GP won both the drivers’ and teams’ World Championships at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
