Description
Ayrton Senna's Lotus 97T, which was powered by a Renault engine, gave him his first-ever Grand Prix victory. Senna had no trouble eluding his pursuers during the Portuguese GP, which was run in deplorably wet conditions, and it only took him around 15 laps. He displayed rapid, controlled driving and always utilized the highest gear possible to prevent wheelspin, displaying his customary prowess in the wet. Senna had completed at least one lap of every competitor by the finish line in his 97T, with the exception of the second-placed driver.
