History For the European rounds, Formula 1 teams typically transport their cars and equipment by land instead of flying or shipping them for overseas races in locations such as in North and south America, Middle and Far East. Obviously, the trucks are wrapped to look professional on the road and also when they are parked up in the Formula 1 paddocks. In 2002, Eddie Jordan employed the services of F1 veteran Giancarlo Fisichella and Japanese rookie, Takuma Sato (who would later go on to win the Indy 500 twice in 2016 and 2020). The team retained it’s classic yellow livery which it had run since 1997 but with new title sponsor DHL, following tighter restrictions on tobacco advertising which forced Benson and Hedges to pull its sponsorship. Jordan GP’s 2002 campaign was a tough one with the team only scoring points on 5 occasions (although only the top six scored points in each race) but the team did manage sixth in the constructors championship and finished ahead of their Honda-powered rivals BAR. |
