Description

This special die-cast model has been designed by the incredibly talented team at Amalgam who have perfectly replicated the Ferrari 312 T4 with the help of Ferrari themselves. Everything from the car's technical features to the sponsorship details have been handcrafted and handled with great care.

The 1:8 scale model has also been mounted on an elegant black plaque, making this a wonderful display piece and a fantastic memorabilia item.

History

Watkins Glen played host to the fifteenth and final round of the 1979 season and Villeneuve was chasing his third victory of the year after winning at the South African Grand Prix at Kyalami (the race in which the 312 T4 made its debut) and Long Beach earlier in the year.

The Ferrari 312 T4 was the first ground effect Formula 1 car from the Italian manufacturer, designed in response to the revolutionary Lotus cars which won the world championship in 1978. 

Villeneuve started the race from third position and in extremely wet conditions put in an incredibly impressive drive to take the lead in the early stages and take the win by 48.787 seconds over Rene Arnoux. 

By season's end, the Ferrari 312 T4 scored six race victories, seven podiums, five fastest laps and two pole positions between both Villeneuve and Jody Sheckter, who went on to take the 1979 Formula 1 World Drivers' Title.
