2011 Lewis Hamilton Suit
Team: Vodafone McLaren Mercedes
Driver Status: Race Driver
Championship: 2011 F1 World Championship
2011 marked McLaren's 30 anniversary with fashion giant, Hugo Boss. To the mark this milestone in their partnership, McLaren, Hugo Boss and Sparco Official (who provide McLaren with their racing suits) opened the door for the fans to customise the racing suits for Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button. One design was selected for each of the 19 race weekends and would be worn by the drivers during Qualifying day.
Both McLaren drivers sported this beautiful 'Santander red' style suit, similar to that of their Ferrari rivals but the design incorporated the black dragon and kept all of the team's sponsor logos in their respective places. The suit was designed in this way as in the Chinese culture red symbolises good fortune and and the dragon is also a symbol of strength and good luck.
The Chinese Grand Prix would see Lewis Hamilton put in a solid performance in qualifying to go third fastest. From there, the British driver put in one of his most impressive races of the season, to overhaul teammate Button and the pole sitter and initial race leader, Vettel. Hamilton would go on to take his 13th career victory.
